User Roles & Access in the LoopUp Admin Portal

This guide explains the different roles available to customer users in the LoopUp Cloud Telephony Admin Portal, and what each role can see and manage.

Introduction
Every login to the Admin Portal is assigned one or more roles. These roles determine which sections of the portal you can see and what you're able to manage — from day-to-day telephony administration through to billing and reporting.

Every user, regardless of role, can always see the Overview and Support pages.

Telephony Service Admin           Day-to-day administrators managing Teams services, phone numbers and sites.

Global Admin

Global Admin is the top-level role for your organization and is typically held by your primary IT Administrator. A Global Admin can:

  • Manage Teams services, including Phone Users, Tenant Connection and Direct Routing
  • Manage phone numbers, number requests and orders
  • Manage SIP Services
  • Manage sites (Site Management)
  • View billing and invoices
  • View usage reports
  • Manage user logins for your organization (Access Management)

Global Admin is currently the only customer role with access to SIP Services — Telephony Service Admins do not have this by default.

Account Manager
Account Manager is intended for partners or organizations that manage other customer accounts. On your own organization's account, this role only gives you access to:

  • The list of customer accounts you manage ("Your Customers")
  • The Pricing Tool, where enabled

It does not give you telephony, billing or login administration on your own account.
However, when you switch into any of the customer accounts you manage, Account Manager effectively becomes a full Global Admin for that account — including telephony, billing and reporting access. In short: your access depends on whether you're working on your own account or one of the accounts beneath it.

Billing Admin
Billing Admin gives read access to your organization's billing information, including:

  • Billing Management
  • Invoices

Billing Admins currently also see Usage Reports, as reporting access is bundled in with this role.

Reporting Admin
Reporting Admin is a read-only role. It gives access to exactly one destination in the portal: Usage Reports.

Telephony Service Admin
Telephony Service Admin covers day-to-day telephony operations. This role can manage:

  • Teams Services (Phone Users, Tenant Connection, Direct Routing)
  • Phone Numbers and Number Management
  • Number Requests & Orders
  • Site Management

Telephony Service Admins cannot access SIP Services or Access Management — these are limited to Global Admin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why can't my Telephony Service Admin see SIP Services?
SIP Services is currently restricted to Global Admin only. If a Telephony Service Admin needs to manage SIP trunks, they will need to be granted Global Admin instead.

I'm an Account Manager but I can't see any telephony or billing options
This is expected on your own organization's account — Account Manager only unlocks full administrative access on the customer accounts beneath yours. Switch into one of those accounts and the full navigation will appear.

Can I assign more than one role to a user?
Yes. Roles can be combined — for example, a user could hold both Billing Admin and Telephony Service Admin if they need visibility across both areas.

How do I request a role for a user?
Please contact your Global Admin, or if you are the Global Admin, use Access Management within the portal to manage user logins and roles.
